The Stamford Endowed Schools: Case Study

The Clients: The Stamford Endowed School

SES turned to Abtec BT after the company completed a small lighting control project in the new chemistry laboratory.
Abtec assessed the current building management systems (BMS) systems and the mechanical controls within the plant rooms, as well as looking at the various field-based sensors around the site to check their functionality and operational effectiveness. Due to the age and disparity of the existing systems, climate control issues were immediately visible

As this would be the biggest driver of savings, Abtec installed a wireless sensor on every window, a wireless thermostatic valve on every radiator and temperature controllers in every corridor – all linked to the boiler controller.

The use of an integrated building energy management system has allowed the school to easily navigate and visualise logged events. This is helping save around 42% a year on its annual gas consumption for heating.

“The installation of the building management controls has enabled the school to quickly and easily see what is happening in our buildings and make changes where necessary. we are seeing a significant reduction in energy usage and this coupled with the very user-friendly interface makes the Abtec system a definite winner for the school”
